About Us

Helping protect & revegetate Australia’s natural ecosystems

At Flora 4 Fauna, we are driven by a straightforward goal: to revegetate and protect Australia’s natural ecosystems. Through our dedication to native Australian plants, we strive to create a sustainable environmental future for our flora, fauna and people alike.

Driven by a passion for native plants

We began with a simple idea: to reconnect people with the land by promoting the usefulness of native Australian plants. Over the years, we have expanded beyond eco tours to include native Australian plant sales, educational walks and talks, public speaking events, bushfood tastings and biodiversity consultations. What started as a personal mission to protect native Australian ecosystems has transformed into a movement for change.

We believe that through education and first-hand experiences, we can inspire others to make sustainable choices and preserve Australia’s natural beauty for generations to come.

Our mission

At Flora 4 Fauna, our mission is to restore and protect Australia’s native ecosystems by promoting the use of native Australian plants and sustainable practices.

We strive to enhance biodiversity, supporting native Australian flora and fauna while fostering a deeper connection between people and the environment.

Our focus is on educating communities about the importance of biodiversity and the vital role that native Australian plants play in supporting local wildlife. Every plant we grow, every tour we lead, and every consultation we offer brings us closer to a healthier and more sustainable future for our unique ecosystems.

Meet Our Founder: Kemp Killerby

Kemp’s deep connection with nature began during his childhood in the south-west of Western Australia, where he hosted his first plant sale and eco-tour at just 10 years old. Raised on a 120-acre vineyard and influenced by his parents, who were pioneers of the WA wine industry, Kemp was immersed in sustainable land management practises, bush survival techniques and an appreciation for the now world-famous West Australian  Wildflowers and other local flora and fauna from an early age. Mentorship from Indigenous Elder Dr. Noel Nannup (OAM) further enriched his understanding and appreciation of native Australian bushfoods, bush medicines and biodiversity.

Now based in South-East Queensland, Kemp leads Flora 4 Fauna - Australia, an initiative that reconnects communities with a range of native Australian plants and their related ecosystems through interpretive eco-tours, educational walks and talks, public speaking events, bushfood tastings and native plant sales. Drawing on decades of experience working with and learning about native Australian plants across Queensland, Western Australia, and New South Wales, Kemp’s work empowers individuals to embrace sustainable lifestyle practices while promoting biodiversity, conservation and the rich heritage of our native flora and fauna.

“Kemp is an entertaining educator who has opened the world of bush foods to me and the bush tucker plants he sells are a great price.”

Kushla Gale

“If you haven't done this walk or attended one of their talks, I really recommend you do so. The knowledge of local bush tucker, medicinal plants, dry rainforest species AND where to buy them from.... is amazing! You will be so pleased you did.”

Shane Stephens

"We have been privileged to work with Kemp over the past few years. Kemp has been extremely generous and gracious with sharing his knowledge and apparent love for native plants with us - in turn increasing our love for them and beautifying our property. With Kemp’s advice we have turned our baron house site into an oasis for native animals with minimal maintenance required."

Jane Brooks

“We recently purchased 20 acres and not long after got Kemp from Flora 4 Fauna out for a consultation. This was hands down the best thing we did, were very glad we did it early on! Not only did Kemp advise us what plants would work well, but also identified species we already had growing (which we would have never known without him).

Kemp recommended specific plants & placements that would be beneficial. We didn’t have high expectations of survival as we have very sandy soil, and we only get out to the block once a week to water. Following Kemp’s guidance, all of our plants have not only survived but are thriving! This was a great feeling to have so many wins and see things thriving, as opposed to struggling to keep things alive. “

Sophie Oliver

“The Bushfood Walk around the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens was great. Lots of useful information & tips for growing your own at home as well as finding food in the wild. Kemp knows his stuff and is more than willing to answer your questions. If our unique native flora is something you are interested in, get to know this bloke.”

Jasmine Steer

“Kemp and Susan from Flora 4 Fauna - Australia provide an invaluable service offering consulting, information and ongoing guidance/support for beautifying habitat, increasing property biodiversity and introducing medicinal/bush foods.

They are happy to share their broad knowledge base in a way that is practical and easy to understand and apply. In addition, they offer a vast array of quality Australian native plants at affordable prices. They don't just take your money; they invest time and energy into sharing what they know. Their passion for sharing knowledge and their love of the natural environment shines through in the incredible and unique service they offer.

I would definitely recommend Flora 4 Fauna Australia.”

Jacinta McMahon

“Thank you to Flora 4 Fauna Eco Tours for a wonderful day out today exploring the bush foods and biodiversity of the Blackall Ranges. Lots learned and shared in such a relaxed and fun way. Plus, I saw my first Richmond Birdwing butterfly in the wild! What a highlight!!”
